Course overview
In cooperation with the Swiss Federal Roads Office (FEDRO) and Swiss Railways (SBB), the International Fire Academy ifa will be offering the following courses in 2011:
UTF Basic road & rail course, Part 1
In this two-day course focussing on both road and rail, fire service members will learn how to deal with incidents in rail and road tunnels. They will have adequate time to gain practical experience, which can be further enhanced in realistic deployment exercises.
UTF Basic rail course, Part 1
In this two-day course focussing on railways, fire service members will learn how to deal with incidents in rail tunnels. They will have adequate time to gain practical experience, which can be further enhanced in realistic deployment exercises.
UTF Basic rail course, Part 2
In this one-day course focussing on railways, knowledge and practical skills gained in the previous UTF basic course Part 1 are further enhanced and consolidated, not only with regard to rail tunnels but also underground railway stations.
UTF Basic road course, Part 1
In this two-day course with the emphasis on roads, members of the fire service learn how to deal with incidents in road tunnels. They will have adequate time to gain practical experience, which can be further enhanced in realistic deployment exercises.
UTF Basic road course, Part 2
In this one-day course focussing on roads, knowledge and practical skills gained in the previous UTF basic course Part 1 are enhanced and consolidated. This takes place deep within the mountain in our tunnel training facilities in Lungern, in which we can also simulate the Gotthard scenario of 2001.

1-tägiger Taktikkurs für Schweizer Einsatz- und Abschnittsleiter mit Strassentunneln in ihrem Einsatzgebiet.
