The International Fire Academy ifa is Europe‘s leading fire academy for instruction and training in underground transportation facilities. An expert team delivers the Swiss tunnel training in the heart of Switzerland, a country known for its many tunnels, using a training concept that has been specially developed for the purpose and which enjoys extensive support. At the heart of the fire academy are two unique, gas-fired tunnel exercise facilities in the Swiss towns of Balsthal and Lungern, in which students can be deployed and trained on a 1:1 basis.

The inter-cantonal Fire Training Centre ifa in Balsthal is the leading training facility for fire brigades in north west Switzerland. The 36,000 m2 training site with pyrodrome, flashover facility, breathing apparatus training facility, fire-fighting platform, classrooms, accommodation, canteen and much more provides fire service personnel with optimal classroom instruction and practical training conditions. Training can be given and exercises carried out on serious incidents from A to Z realistically, efficiently and safely.
