Ten training modules

In detailed lessons, the correct procedure for different fire incidents is taught and practised. Scenarios range from fires in residential buildings and commercial facilities up to vehicle fires in an underground car park. The use of different fire extinguishing devices can be trained as well as the triple extinguishing attack for liquid fires. The difficulty level of the drills is adjusted to the level of the participants and increased with the lessons. A total of ten training modules are offered.

Nine operation modules

Operation modules usually consist of three operational drills. These operational drills are about cooperation in the company and the joint mastery of fires. Training facilities include the Pyrodrom, the underground car park, the fire attack platform and the Theme Park. Three operation modules take place in the polyvalent firehouse Q. There are a total of 9 operation modules. Also with them the level of difficulty increases with each drill.

Experienced instructors and technicians

Our instructors have completed the Swiss Fire Instructor School (SFIS) or obtained a comparable qualification. The modules are aided by our experienced technicians and operators. This allows the instructors to concentrate on their students.

Methodology and didactics according to SFIS

The Intercantonal Fire Service Training Centre follows in its methodology and didactics for all modules the Swiss Fire Instructor School (SFIS). With their detailed lessons, the training modules cover the training and consolidation phases, and the operation modules cover the application phase. All lessons stimulate self-reflection and mutual feedback.

Through the variation in the course of the drills and the incorporation of difficulties, the required basic skills are trained and generalised in different conditions. The aim is to be able to retrieve the acquired skills and abilities safely and reliably, even under stress.
